School Holiday Swim Instructor

Refugee Settlement Services is looking for caring and enthusiastic Volunteer Swim Instructors to support Syrian refugee children during the school holidays in Timaru.

This is a wonderful opportunity to make a meaningful difference by helping children develop water confidence, learn basic swimming skills, and enjoy a safe and positive experience.The time commitment required would be 2 hours a day, 3 days a week during school holidays only.

By volunteering your time, you'll help children gain valuable life skills, build confidence, and create positive memories while supporting families as they settle into our community.

Requirements:

We're looking for someone who:

  • Can swim confidently
  • Enjoys working with children
  • Has good communication skills and the ability to teach and encourage others
  • Holds a current First Aid Certificate (desirable)

What you'll do

  • Support and teach children basic swimming and water safety skills
  • Create a fun, safe, and encouraging environment
  • Build confidence and help children feel comfortable in the water
  • Work alongside staff and volunteers to support the programme

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

6 hours per week
