We need a keen volunteer please who can help our Coach at our weekly summer training sessions to help our athletes with their athletics programme.
As a Special Olympics coach, you would bring enthusiasm, commitment and a positive attitude to each practice, event and competition. You will enrich the lives of our athletes in many life-changing ways. They are an easy bunch of young people to work with.
Add this role onto your C.V.
Coaches also get a lot in return. They get to know athletes who inspire, athletes who are brave and determined, despite the odds against them.
Requirements:
Ideally someone who is familiar with the a simple athletics training programme who is ready to give back, but this is not mandatory.
If you are just keen to volunteer and can learn on the job, that's fine to. Special Olympics NZ has on-line coach training available if you wish to further your coaching skills.
Our Special Olympics Club is a registered charitable trust and sport Club for people with an intellectual disability.
A Police background check is required for this role.
Just a keen person ready to give this role a go. No specific prior experience is required.
We can go to other centres/locations to compete if our Coach wishes to help in this way.
One hour per week late October until the end of February, Tuesdays 4.45pm to 5.45pm.
We train Tuesday evenings outdoor at the Aorangi Park athletics ground, it is mostly about participation for our athletes, having a go and having some fun in the sun for our athletes - it's not too serious!
