The Mid Canterbury Community Vehicle Trust oversees the operation of the Mid Canterbury Connector community transport service. The service uses volunteer drivers to transport people who don’t drive/no longer drive into Ashburton Township for medical/hospital/dental/WINZ appointments; shopping; seeing friends and family, etc.
The Trust’s vision is to reduce social isolation, especially in older Ashburton District residents, and to help keep people connected to their families and communities.
The service has a part-time paid Co-ordinator who receives bookings and allocates volunteer drivers on a roster basis and manages the finances. The service is also supported by the Safe Communities Co-ordinator at Safer Mid Canterbury who is the Trust Secretary.
Trustees meet five times a year, on a Thursday morning from 10.30-11.30am, plus attend our AGM in November each year.
