Youth and Community Development (YCD) at The Y supports young people aged 15–24 years into education, training, or employment pathways.
We are currently seeking volunteers to support students attending our Te Kura learning support programme. Te Kura – Te Aho o Te Kura Pounamu is New Zealand’s national online education provider, offering flexible learning opportunities for students who are unable to consistently attend traditional schooling.
Through this programme, young people can enrol with Te Kura and attend a supportive learning environment where they receive guidance with their studies while also connecting with other young people. As a volunteer, you will help support students with their learning and encourage them as they work through their online coursework.
ABOUT THE ROLE
YCD currently supports up to eight students who attend the programme three mornings per week.
A volunteer Learning Support Assistant will work alongside the staff member to provide additional learning support. This may involve sitting alongside individual students as they work through online learning tasks and assignments, helping them understand their work and stay engaged with their learning.
Your support will help young people gain confidence, achieve success in their studies, and progress on their education pathway.
