Male Support For Stroke Club Swimming Exercise Group

Stroke Club which helps stroke survivors recover and regain independence, is looking for male volunteers for its swimming exercise programme, GENTLE FUN AQUA EXERCISE GROUP. As a volunteer, you will be helping some stroke survivor members in the water whilst they carry out the exercises.

The group is led by a class instructor.

Main roles:

  1. Accompany an assigned client in the swimming pool
  2. Assist and help clients carry out the exercises to the best of their ability
  3. Assist to make sure they leave the pool safely

Gentle Water Exercise is very therapeutic for people who have experienced stroke. It can improve mobility, balance and confidence.

Requirements:

Volunteers must be

  • fit and over 18 years old
  • approachable
  • have a desire to offer support to older people and people with disability
  • be caring & have empathy to people with impaired mobility
  • a good listener
  • have respect for the client's privacy and wishes
  • must be able to provide a reference if asked for
Time commitment:

Friday (except Public Holidays)
10:45am - 11:45am
Small Programme Pool at CBay Complex, Te Weka St, Timaru
