Support for Refugee Families

Make a real difference in someone’s life!
Are you friendly, open-minded, and passionate about helping people? Join us in supporting refugee families as they settle into their new life in Timaru. As a volunteer, you’ll play a key role in helping families feel welcome, connected, and confident in their community.

What you’ll do:

  • Offer practical assistance and support to refugee families adjusting to life in Timaru
  • Help families navigate local services, schools, and community resources
  • Build meaningful connections and friendships across cultures
  • Work alongside a supportive team of volunteers and staff

Requirements:

Who we’re looking for:

  • Warm, friendly, and reliable people who enjoy helping others
  • Good communication and listening skills
  • Interest in learning about other cultures
  • Some walking may be involved; a driver’s licence is desirable but not essential
  • Experience with children is a bonus, but not required

A Police background check is required for this role.
