Companion of new Refugee families

The Refugee Settlement Service provides support to our families as they settle into their new life in Ashburton. Each family has a team of volunteers to help them settle in. The volunteers provide a wide range of activities such as companionship, conversational English practice, shopping assistance, child care, gardening/craft help etc. It is a wide ranging role, and with a team of volunteers with different skills and interests, we manage to cover most things. This role is very rewarding and we offer training and great support.

To be flexible, have a sense of humor and be willing to help someone from a different culture adapt to life in New Zealand.

Volunteers need a police check to be completed.

A Police background check is required for this role.
