Committee Secretary

The Secretary supports the effective operation of the South Canterbury Seafarers Welfare Committee, contributing to the wellbeing of international seafarers visiting the Port of Timaru.

The role involves providing administrative and coordination support to the committee, helping ensure meetings, records, and communications run smoothly.

  • Approximately 6 meetings per year (every second month)
  • Meetings held on the second Thursday at 5:00pm
  • Meetings run for 30–60 minutes
  • Attendance can be in person or via Zoom

Requirements:
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to prepare agendas and accurately record meeting minutes
  • Confidence using Zoom and Google Drive
  • Ability to manage records and correspondence in a timely manner
  • Experience with Canva is an advantage
  • Interest in community wellbeing, the Port, and seafarer welfare
Time commitment:

Around 3 hours per meeting, plus a few additional hours between meetings
