Are you passionate about conservation and keen to support local wildlife? Penguins First, a charitable trust dedicated to protecting Timaru’s beloved little blue penguins, is looking for volunteers to help during the upcoming season.

Every summer, up to 300 visitors gather on select nights to watch these special birds return to their nests. Volunteers play a vital role by guiding visitors safely off the rocks and onto the footpath, ensuring both people and penguins are protected.
