Big Buddy Mentor

Adult Big Buddies are required to develop an ongoing supportive relationship with a child in order to enhance his/her personal growth. The Buddy is expected to commit one or two hours per week for the minimum of one year. This time may be spent in a variety of activities and pursuits of mutual interest to the volunteer and the child. The Buddies will be responsible to and supervised by the Family Workd Buddy Programme Co-ordinator.

Requirements:

An ability to relate to and understand children is required. The Buddy must have a personal interest in children and be able to develop and maintain a positive relationship with the child and their family. The Buddy should have an acceptance of differing cultural backgrounds and lifestyles.
The key tasks are one-on-one consistent support and companionship to a child, to engage in regular planned activities of mutual interest to the Buddy and the child, to be able to gauge the progress of this relationship and share this to the Programme Co-ordinator and ask for help when it is needed. Big Buddies are supported to participate in regualr monthly group supervision and training with the Programme Co-ordinator.

All volunteers are required to be double vaccinated and boosted if eligible.
