To provide a safe and welcoming space for anyone of any culture to meet for activities, events, huis. Although located in a Ngai Tahu area, the Hakatere Marae is not a Ngai Tahu marae. It is a marae for people from all iwi, a marae for all members of the community.

During the months of September to April approximately the Hakatere Marae need someone to use their ride on mower to mow the lawns usually on fortnightly basis.
To collect food, make up food boxes and some delivery may be needed on occasions.
