GirlGuiding NZ Unit Leaders - Ashburton

There is no experience needed, but we need reliable volunteers and previous experience working with youth is an advantage.
You will be given FREE leadership training, mentoring, and all uniform is provided. There is no personal cost to you to volunteer

Requirements:

As a volunteer you will:

  • Have a passion to inspire girls and young women to reach their full potential and learn new skills
  • Be encouraging, assertive and patient
  • Be a hands-on leader and learner
  • Meet new people and become part of a worldwide network

During the school term our GGNZ leaders:

  • Attend a weekly session (in person) for up to two hours
  • Helping plan the term's activities and deliver them to the girls
  • Complete occasional evening / weekend training as required
  • Attend occasional leader / planning meetings, and trips or camps

GirlGuiding New Zealand 's health and safety policy also has requirements around adult to child ratios, so we do require that you are older than 18.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

There are a few units in Ashburton needing a new Leader so you can choose the one with the day/time that works best for you. The units we are currently recruiting for are:

Te Matapuna Guides - Meets on Tuesdays between 5 - 6:30pm during school term time
Te Matapuna Pippins - Meets on Tuesdays between 3 - 5pm during school term time
*Te Matapuna Brownies - Meets on Thursdays between 4 - 5:30pm during school term time
There is also the odd camp or event on a weekend so between this and planning you can expect to spend between 2-3 hours per week volunteering.
We also require a minimum of a six month commitment.
