Therapy Pets Team Leader

Animal-assisted therapy has been shown to promote emotional wellbeing and contact with gentle animals provides comfort and helps people to be happier. Therapy Pets is a voluntary community programme that enhances the lives of others, and we need your help!

Hato Hone St John has developed a programme to share animal companions within local rest homes, hospitals and schools within the local community. We are looking for an empathetic and customer-focused individual to become a Therapy Pet Team Leader.

As Team Leader you will provide support and mentoring advice to your volunteer team in order to achieve targets and objectives. Activities include recruiting, reporting and attending Area Committee Meetings as required. You will also organise recognition events, meetings and training for your team. You will have excellent communication skills, an empathetic personality and a genuine interest in the well-being of others as well as previous team management experience and be a competent computer user.

Requirements:
  • Ability to pass a police vetting check
  • Full COVID vaccination (including booster/s)
  • Experience managing a team preferred

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

Flexible - an average of 5hr per week.
