Our Timaru Blind Low Vision member is looking for a new tandem bike pilot.
We are looking for an active volunteer who will be able to spend time once or twice in a fortnight, being a pilot to support our member in their riding. As the pilot rider, your role is to be ‘the eyes’ of the tandem – at the front steering, enjoying the wind and keeping your low vision rider informed of what’s going on around you!

This member is very active and loves a challenge. He has biked from Cape Reinga to Bluff in the 3000km bike tour, so he is looking for someone to match his level of passion and fitness. A typical ride would be 2-3 hours. You will be familiar with bikes already, be able to use pedal cleats and have basic bike maintenance skills. The current pilot will be able to guide you on your new journey as a tandem pilot volunteer for Blind Low Vision. This is a fantastic and easy way to support your local community and learn something new and keep fit!

Requirements:

A keen cyclist, patient and fit. Knowledge of bikes and maintenance.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

twice a week (alternate weeks in a fortnight).

Getting started:
The first step is to express your interest by filling out the form below. We will then put you in touch directly with the organisation for more information on the role and how to proceed.
