Mentor for people learning to drive

Volunteer Mentors Required
Help transform a life, make our roads safer and pass on your driving skills. With your support as one of our mentors you will help a learner driver prepare for the restricted driving test and become a safer driver.

The Salvation Army Driver programmes will support you as a mentor; Group training workshop , In car instructor training, A car supplied for mentoring, Ongoing support from the programme coordinator, Recognition for your service as a volunteer mentor.

Each mentor provides their learner driver with two one hour practice sessions each week in our programme car. In this way you as a mentor help foster positive habits that will have long term benefits for the learner driver. You genuinely will be helping transform an individual’s life and making our roads safer.


A full driving licence, patience, empathy, calmness

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

This is a longer term commitment until your student has passed their test.
