Narrator for Blind Low Vision Telephone Information Service

Do you have a phone and access to a newspaper? Have up to hour spare once a week before 10.30am? Are you are comfortable having your own voice recorded for others to listen to? If you've answered yes to the above, you're exactly who I'm looking for! Blind Low Vision needs more volunteers to help out with reading parts of the Timaru Herald and other publications onto the Telephone Information Service. This is accessed by our members on their telephones so they can listen to what's in the papers and going on in their region. This role is something you can do autonomously and in the privacy of your own home but it's one that that makes a world of difference to our blind and low vision members.

Requirements:

Access to a newspaper and good time management skills as readings need to be done by 10.30am. Loud, clear speaking voice and a good grasp of the English language. Uninterrupted access to a landline for approx. an hour and a half

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

1 hour per week
